Gotta Another Gear (Cowboy)
owned and trained by Doug Smith
of Ward, AR won the Most Valuable
Horse Award in the Speed Division
at the 2009 AQHA World Show.
The
Most Valuable Horse awards are
designed to showcase the talents and
abilities of American Quarter Horses
competing in multiple events and reward
the horse’s owner with a big bonus,”
said AQHA Executive Vice President
Don Treadway. Doug had qualified in
the senior barrels and senior poles. The
night before the preliminaries he made
the official change to allow his son Lane,
a two time AQHYA World Champion, to
show Cowboy in the barrels.  Other
entries were a Who's Who of
champions including, but not limited to,
Jolene Stewart, Mary Burger, Brittany
Pozzi-Pharr, Tammy Dube Fischer, Add
Waddell, Lance Graves, Kassie Mowry
and Tiffany Fox, just to name a few.
The placings were figured on a two run average. When the dust settled Lane and Cowboy were 5th
overall.   Then came Dad's turn in the poles against another set of multiple Word Champion horses
and exhibitors.  It's worth noting that out of all the entries at this year's AQHA World Championship
Show, Cowboy was the only horse to make the finals in both classes. In the end, they finished 4th
which gave them enough cumulative points to win the Most Valuable Horse Award and a
bonus
check of $5000.00

Katherine Fuller of Poplar Grove 5th at AQHA World Show
Katherine Fuller of Poplar Grove took
5th place in Amateur Western
Pleasure at the 2009 AQHA World
Show with her Dad's mare, One Jazzy
Sheik. "Jazzy" was purchased by the
Fuller family in the summer of 2007 as
a two year old from Masterson Farms
in Somerville TN.  She placed in the
top 20 at the 2008 AQHYA World
Show, won 3 titles at the 2008 Region
9 Regional Experience, won the 2008
and 2009 Mississippi Futurity 3 and 4
year old open and non pro class, won
the 2008 Mid South Breeders 3 and 4
year old non pro class and was
reserve in the 3 year old open.
She was the 2009 Dixie National reserve champion in Amateur Western Pleasure. "Jazzy" has a
superior award in amateur western pleasure and she is currently in 3rd place in point standings for
the 2009 AQHA Honor Roll in amateur western pleasure.  What makes this all so exciting is that
"Jazzy" is kept at home and trained by her amateur owner, Jerry Fuller and his children, Katherine
and Kyle. Katherine designs all of her own show clothes and her mother sews them.  The 2009
World Show was Katherine's first amateur world show, and  she previously showed at the
2001-2004 Youth World shows, placing 9th at the 2002 Youth World in  Western Pleasure on MC
Jetson.
Its official! Katherine Fuller of Poplar Grove, Arkansas, and One Jazzy
Sheik have accumulated the most points in 2009 in AQHA Amateur
Western Pleasure.  Katherine trailed Crosby Boyd, the reserve World
Champion for most of the last half of 2009, but finished strong at the
end, garnering 60 points from Thanksgiving until December 31.
Katherine commented that her horse "really came together this fall," and
she was lucky enough to hit three AQHA shows at the end of the year
that had good sized pleasure classes at Tunica and Hattiesburg, MS
and West Monroe, LA. According to her point tally, Katherine has 125
points for the year in amateur western pleasure, which was enough to
overcome Boyd who ended the year with 104 points. Katherine says
she would like to finish her Superior Award in Open Western Pleasure
and have a good show at the Dixie Nationals in February. She also
plans to breed her mare to Congress reserve champion stallion "A
Dream Remembered",  hopefully for a 2011 baby.  Katherine will
graduate from the University of Arkansas in May with a degree in Interior
Design.  Watch for stories on all of the year end high point award
winners coming up soon in the American Quarter Horse Journal.

Saturday’s race saw the pace set quick when Megan Williams of Daingerfield, TX posted a 15.117 second

into sub 15 second territory when Jody Dorman and SFW Nonstop Sunfrost stopped the clock with a

McDougal of Avery, TX and her mount George. The duo’s average time of 16.997 was right on the dot to
win the 4D average buckle and $225.19 cash.

Two other Red Bluff buckles were awarded to the Youth and Adult side pot high money earners of the
weekend. The Youth buckle went home with Cheyenne Richards of Quitman, TX whose earnings for the

It's Little Britches Rodeo National Finals Time!
The Central Arkansas Little Britches Rodeo Association is a sanctioned chapter of the National Little Britches
Rodeo Association
- the oldest youth rodeo association in the country. The NLBRA is now in its 56th year of
competition. The CALBRA's mission is to bring a new level of Youth Rodeo to Arkansas. No other
Arkansas-based youth rodeo association can offer youth ages 5 -18 a National Finals competition at the end
of the season. By hosting at least two rodeos a month, CALBRA hopes to enable as many contestants as
possible to fulfill their dreams to qualify and compete in the NLBRA Finals.  This year's National Finals will
take place July 26-31 in Pueblo, Colorado.

The NLBRA season begins August 1st of each year and ends with the National Finals the last week of July.
To qualify for the finals, a contestant need only place in the top 7 of an event at four individual rodeos. Each
contestant takes their top 5 places for each event to the Finals. At the finals, contestants compete for
buckles, saddles, scholarships, and other awards

Five age groups are available for children ages 5 - 18. They are: Little Wrangler division for boys and girls
ages 5 to 7, Junior Boys division for boys 8 - 13, Junior Girls division for girls 8 - 13, Senior Boys division for
